Lectures
We give public illustrated lectures at our office in Vilnius, J. Basanavičiaus str. 16, in the gallery "Vita Antiqua" (5-10 persons) or we go to the place you indicated.
Possible lecture topics:
►Ancient white costume (lecturer - Dr. Daiva Steponavičienė). Additional educational sessions are available in groups of up to 15 people. (jewelry - Baltic jewelry; textile - belt making; leather - accessories)
►Historical costume: development, restoration and use (lecturer - Dr. Daiva Steponavičienė)
►History of leather industry in Lithuania (lecturer - Dr. Arūnas Puškorius). Additional educational classes are available in groups of up to 5 people.
►Mansion of the ruler of Lithuania: luxury and everyday life (lecturer - Dr. Daiva Steponavičienė)
Lecture duration - 1.5 hours. (2 academic hours)

Educational sessions
We invite you to relax, forget about everyday worries and spend evenings together in a meaningful and useful way, learning folk songs, creating a piece of jewelry or a unique costume detail. You will meet interesting people who will tell you about ancient crafts, reveal the secrets of technology and give you the opportunity to unleash your creative powers. Discover your true talents!
For that purpose, VšĮ "Vita Antiqua" organizes practical educational sessions for adults in the following groups:
Jewelry group (5-10 persons)
Classes are held on Wednesdays from 18:00 to 20:00.
We learn various techniques to make and decorate Baltic jewelry. You will be able to make a ring, a bracelet, a brooch, and you may want to decorate the edge of a scarf or skirt with metal trims or uniquely decorate a belt, a knife case or a wallet.
Classes are led by master jeweler Vaida Druskytė
The price of the class is 15 EUR, for schoolchildren, students and pensioners - 12 EUR.
Lane keeping group (5-7 people)
Classes are held on Thursdays from 18:00 to 19:30.
We are learning how to weave ribbons with ancient patterns based on Lithuanian and Latvian archaeological finds. With such ribbons, we will not only tie up the garment, but also decorate its edges.
The classes are conducted by Daiva Steponavičienė.
The price of the class is 12 EUR, for schoolchildren, students and pensioners - 10 EUR.
Bone knitting group (5-7 persons)
We will learn how to knit a hat, mittens or socks using the ancient bone needle knitting technique.
Classes are conducted by master Lina Gerdvilytė
The price of the class is 15 EUR, for schoolchildren, students and pensioners - 12 EUR.
Leather group (5-10 persons)
Classes are held on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
You will learn about archaeological leather finds found in Lithuania (shoes, bags, scrotums, horse clothing, toys, etc.), their variety, fashions and changes over time.
Abundant visual material and reconstructions of archaeological finds and other examples are used. You will learn about the 16th century. leather weaving techniques, you will make a leather button according to the Renaissance fashion, or you will gather a leather scrotum for storing small things according to the 13th-16th centuries. findings.
Master Arūnas Puškorius conducts the classes.
